The library and citations

Files, sources, notes and links in one place, and a reference list in APA 7, Harvard, BibTeX or RIS.

What goes in it

A project's Library holds everything it collects: files with every version, sources with their citations, notes and links. New things land in the Inbox until someone sorts them into a part.

Files

Upload a file: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, PNG, JPG, text or CSV, up to 100 MB each. Every file is checked for malware before anyone can open it. Upload a new version and the earlier ones are kept. Word, PDF, spreadsheets, pictures and text are previewed in your browser. Open a file's versions to preview any of them, or Restore an earlier one: a copy of it becomes the newest version, and nothing is deleted.

Sources and citations

Add a source with its title, authors, year, publisher, DOI or ISBN and link. Write the citation as it should appear in the reference list, or leave it empty to have it written from the details. Copy citation copies one in APA 7, Harvard or as written.

A reference list

Export sources downloads every source in the project as BibTeX (.bib) or RIS (.ris) for a reference manager, or as a reference list in APA 7 or Harvard.

Importing references

Import references reads a .bib or .ris file from Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote or Google Scholar, or text you paste, in your browser: nothing is uploaded and no link in it is opened. Tick the references you want, up to 200 at a time; any the library already has (the same DOI, or the same title and year) start unticked.

Notes and links

Notes are written in Markdown, and everyone in the project can read them. Links to Google Docs, Figma, GitHub, Miro and the like keep only the address: nothing is fetched and no account is connected.

Linking to parts

Sort an item into the parts that use it, and it shows on those parts' pages too. Filter the library by kind and by part, or search titles, authors, notes and links.

Results

The library opens with Results: what the project hands in first, then each part's result with its part's status. Upload a file whose name looks like a result, such as “Legal report final v3.docx”, and you're offered Add as a new version of that result instead of a new item. A version that was handed in is kept, even if someone tries to delete it.
